Trying to describe the mixed and many feelings associated with the events over the last few weeks is not easy. I know from my own personal experience I have gone through the full spectrum of emotions; disbelief, anxiety, fear, hope, excitement, pride.

Last week the Doctor carried out several home visits to businesses to discuss the challenges that they had when trying to re-programme their resources on projects that might be affected by the Coronavirus.

Although, as a Doctor I like to focus on the strategic healing of business, sometimes even I need to knuckle down and get to grips with the latest changes to VAT rules and their impact on the Construction Industry.

The death of a loved one can have a devastating impact on a person. Speaking from my own recent personal experience the loss, even of an older person, can have a huge impact on your mental health and general wellbeing. As a Doctor, in the construction industry, I see the same impact when there is a sudden death of a business resulting in personal devastation, which can leave a long-term lasting effect on all your workers and staff.

As a Doctor I am used to seeing lots of breaks and cracks in projects and businesses. However, in the surgery this week I saw a plastering contractor whose system of measuring up his work was so badly shattered that his whole business was in traction.

In my surgery this week we have seen a number of patients showing symptoms of a common business ailment, Cash-v-Profit Syndrome.
