Construction tech boss, Dr Alex Reid of Apsis Business Components was delighted to have been championing the construction industry on STV news last night.

With the UK lockdown continuing and the widening disparity between devolved Government’s treatment of construction site closures, which indicates that 80% of all construction site are closed in Scotland and North Ireland compare to 39% in the UK as a whole, it is now time that the financial institutions have a clear, unified guideline on the viability test required to support the industry through this crisis.

As the UK Coronavirus lockdown continues the mixed messages that are being reported are continuing to cause confusion within the construction sector. The different approaches adopted vary not only from site to site, but more concerningly the approach between the UK and the Scottish Governments’ differ significantly, ultimately creating a North-South divide.

Last week the Doctor carried out several home visits to businesses to discuss the challenges that they had when trying to re-programme their resources on projects that might be affected by the Coronavirus.

Although, as a Doctor I like to focus on the strategic healing of business, sometimes even I need to knuckle down and get to grips with the latest changes to VAT rules and their impact on the Construction Industry.

Speaking from my own recent personal experience the loss, even of an older person, can have a huge impact on your mental health and general wellbeing. As a Doctor, in the construction industry, I see the same impact when there is a sudden death of a business resulting in personal devastation, which can leave a long-term lasting effect on all your workers and staff.

As a Doctor I am used to seeing lots of breaks and cracks in projects and businesses. However, in the surgery this week I saw a plastering contractor whose system of measuring up his work was so badly shattered that his whole business was in traction.
